TUCN Marks Completion of First
Round of Cybersecurity Seminars
In June 2025, the Technical
University of Cluj-Napoca (TUCN) is marking the
completion of the first round of activities within its
ongoing Cybersecurity Seminars program, an
interdisciplinary initiative supported by a grant from
Google.org.
The project brings together students enrolled in three
cybersecurity-focused courses coordinated by the
Departments of Automation, Computer Science, and
Communications. These activities have also involved
collaboration with local community organizations (LCOs),
including SMEs, public institutions, and non-profits,
aimed at improving cybersecurity awareness and practical
resilience.
The program offers training in cryptography, network
security, ethical hacking, and cyber risk management,
combining academic expertise with hands-on learning and
real-world impact. The initiative is grounded in the
belief that lasting cybersecurity education must bridge
the gap between theory and application, both within
academia and across the broader community.
“This
Google.org grant is a tremendous opportunity to
build a strong cybersecurity ecosystem that extends
beyond academia. We are committed to equipping our
students and local communities with the tools and
knowledge needed to face digital age challenges,”
said the program leadership.” (TUCN)
Program Leadership at TUCN:
Prof. Adrian Coleșa – Faculty Champion
Dr. Roxana Rusu-Both – EDI Champion
The Cybersecurity Seminars program will continue
into its next phases, further strengthening the
university’s commitment to responsible research, digital
inclusion, and resilient local ecosystems.
